Things to Consider During Watersports

Talk watersports over before and after you do it

We've said before how important communication is in kink and BDSM, and watersport activities are no exception to this rule. Stress, anxiety, and emotional distress are common side effects of watersports, and whilst you can’t prevent themthis entirely, you can alleviate them it both before and after play. Be confident and assertive during negotiation about your aftercare needs as the bottom, and clear and honest in your intentions as the Top., and mMake sure you get what you need after the scene regardless of your role.

Research the best positions for watersports

There are many different wayspositions to participate in watersports, from peeing into your kneeling partner’s mouth to urinating on yourself in a fountain., and aAll of them carry the potential for different psychological side effects. If you're not into degradation and humiliation, you may choose to just watch your partner urinate, or you can experiment during foreplay and sex with urinating on or into your partner. But if you enjoy power exchange and want to go to the more 'extreme' end of the watersport spectrum, funnel gags ensure an s-type has to swallow whatever comes their way. These are just a few of many watersports activities so do your homework and figure out what works best for the Top and the bottom involved.

Plan your watersports scene and ask questions

Consider all the aspects of how to do the scene, especially if it's your first time. Ask questions such as:

  • Where do you want to do the scene?

  • How soon will you want to clean-up?

  • Will anyone be drinking the urine?

  • Do you want there to be spectators?

  • Will clean-up be part of the aftercare, or a separate ritual in private?

There are many considerations to wet and messy activities, so be sure that you and your partner are clear on what you want out of the scene.

Prepare for a potential mess during watersports activities

Some practitioners use an inflatable pool or tarpaulin sheets to protect soft furnishings during watersports scenes; quite often there are rules against doing these types of scenes in public venues due to biowaste hazards. Wet and messy is exactly what it sounds like. If you’re likely to want a shower immediately after the scene, doing the scene in the bathroom might be easier, but remember how slippery the floor or bathtub could get!

Flush your system of bacteria before playing with urine

Whilst you won't catch an STI from urine, bacteria can still be transmitted, and that can lead to some nasty infections. Reduce the risk of transmitting bacteria by starting the 'shower' mid-stream, so that the urethra is flushed of this bacteria and whatever is flowing is cleaner. Read up on these kinds of risks.

Avoid protein to improve the taste of urine

Diet and hydration are important in the day to day, but this is an especially mindful consideration for those who are new to the taste experience involved in watersports. Proteinous foods like eggs, meat, and cheese will give urine a very unpleasant taste, whereas fruit juice and water will dilute the urine, and potentially improve the flavour.

Don't drink urine if you're even slightly dehydrated

Urine is high in sodium and minerals, so if you're dehydrated already it will make the dehydration worse, similar to the risks of drinking saltwater when you’re already dehydrated. Try to drink plenty of water in the hours building up to a scene, and aim for at least two litres of water a day.

Keep warm during watersports

Getting your skin wet means you'll feel any drafts, and you don't want to catch a chill after having so much fun! This is especially important if you plan on doing watersports outside - try to ensure the environment is warm, or that you have something to wrap up in that you don’t mind getting soiled.

Make sure you’re not breaking the law with kink

Bear in mind that if you’re engaging in outdoor play, there are legal considerations for urinating in public, as well as considerations around public indecency. Be sure to check your local laws during your planning phase.

These considerations are not designed to be advice in how to play safely - they are things to think about prior to engaging in dangerous forms of play.

No matter the precautions you take in this kind of activity, you cannot guarantee the safety of those involved. Approach this form of play with extreme caution.
